President Obama told us that under his plan, health insurance premiums would go down. I think he forgot to tell Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida.

I just received notice that my health insurance premiums are increasing for the second time this year. Since Obamacare was signed in March 2010, my premiums went up in May and will rise again in December for an increase of over 10 percent in eight months.

I attended the Halifax Hospital Tax District meeting on Sept. 8. I was reminded that since Medicare and Medicaid payments do not cover actual cost of care, the hospital is forced to make up the difference by charging privately insured patients a higher rate. Homeowners also pay for indigent care through our property taxes. As Obamacare begins to dump more people into Medicaid (and other publicly funded programs) the cost for those of us who are responsible has nowhere to go but up. Obamacare is a disaster, and the cost is only one of the many problems. Congress needs to repeal this mess now! The Florida Legislature needs to continue to fight to have this law repealed.
